WHAT IS PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY...
Portrait Photograpghy is photograpghy of a group of people or of a person to show their emotions, moods, expression, or personality. The focus of the image is most likely the face. There are many types of portrait photography such as candid portrait photography, formal portrait photography, and enviromental portrait photography. Candid portrait photography is my favourite because I think that it creates memories and it is different to all the others where they are all looking at the camera and are focusing on how they like where as with candid photography it just captures the moment.

I like Jill Greenbergs work because it shows many different emotions and feelings. Her images are close ups towards the face. I can see the emotion in their eyes in all the images above. I think that her work is good and also I think that the children are cute, however, I dislike her work because most of the time she captures negative emotions such as 'sad' and 'upset', the children are crying and look lost and hurt in these images. Not many of her images have captured the emotion of 'happiness' 'Joy' or 'delighted'

I like Ian Phillips work because most of the time he captures an image close up of the face, but he also catches the image further away from the model of their body. I also like his work because in alot of his images the emotion is obvious and clear. He tends to split the picture in half and change the effect and filter on the image to black and white.
I dislike his work because it is all the same and I think that it gets boring to see the same emotion over and over again. |

I like Steve Mc'Currys work because it is different and it has lots of different colours, however he does contain a variety of dull photos but they show great amount of emotion therefore he uses different emotions and edits. Steve Mc'Curry works with many different age groups and he works works with female and male I like this because children have diffrent emotions as adults.

SELF TIMER
WORST
BEST
This is my best image because I managed to capture my face and my emotion. The camera is focused on me and the background is blurred. This image has a good compostion due to the angle the camera was at. The exposure was good becuase my image was not over exposed. The image is slighty yellow, If i was to take this image again I would adjust the white balance slightly.

SHOOT 2
plan
I am going to take a picture of my model and try to re create the image of Ian Phillips. I am going to try and focus my camera on my models face in one half, then I am going to try and focus on her body therefore I can create my image in photo shop.
REPRODUCTION OF Ian phillips
Final piece
BEST
This is my best photograph because my model has been caught in action as it looks like she is daydreaming or looking ahead. I had my cameras shutterspeed setting on around 1/4000. My image is not over exposed nor underexposed, My shoot was held in the inspirational room as I needed a plain white background.
WORST
This is my worst image as my model is moving and her eyes are half close. I did not ahcieve my goal of capturing my models natural face. My models mouth was open as we were having a conversation, my goal was to capture my model in action but with her mouth closed and I wanted her hands to be down, therefore that would allow me to capture just her face and her emotion. |
SHOOT 3
BEST
This is my best image which I captured because you can see the reflection clearly. I took this picture outside to get the correct lighting to suit my image, My model is standing with her shoulder facing the mirror therefore that allowed me to get the right angle.
worst
This is my worst picture because my model is out off focus and somebody is in the back of my image.
SHOOT 4
BEST
This is my best image because the camera has foucsed clearly on her face as I have zoomed right in, also I have met my objective of having her eyes as a main focus.
WORST
I used this image as inspiration as the main focus of my image was my models eyes.
This is my worst image because it is over exposed, the focus point is not correctly set. My models head is not straight how I planned it to be.
final piece
evaluation
Overall I enjoyed this unit because it was interesting and allowed me to learn more about the camera such as different techniques like depth of field and focus point. If I was to re do this unit I would edit more images as this would give them more development. I was able to incorporate different photographers work into my ideas.
